For my own sake, I'm curious about the reasons people have for wanting promotions within an XP chain. No, I'm not drunk. Yes, that is sake, with a long A sound, not sake, which would sound like sah-key.

Humor me if you will, and pick the ONE MAIN reason why promotion within an XP chain would be important to you. As we continue to look at LD's quota-based chains and try to make sure it does what our members want it to do it helps if we really understand what the members want.

If I left your main reason off, just list it in this thread.

I believe that the lower you are, the more xp you get.

Umm well kazsam is top of 126 and get when i log on in the morning between 50-80 mill, kazeyar is bottom of 126 and get 18-20 mill when i log her on at same time

Either there is more xp as you got further up, or its down to your direct vassals in the chain

I wouldnt say being in OH has made much difference to xp, but its still nice

The above is THE main determining factor is how much XP one gets each day. Not just your direct chain vassal of course; the vast majority is the XP each of us get from the chain is directly controlled by the 5 of 6 people below us in the chain.

Like is said above, it doesnt matter if you get promoted, it matters who is under you. If you have people like Thray and Anca under you, you probably won't hear any complaining.

The fact that the chain doesn't have a 100%+ passup rule means that you will not necessarily get more XP when you get promoted.

Of course, if you're one of the bottom few people in the chain, it's definitely more often the case that you WILL see more XP, since quota isn't always kicking in down there.

What oof said. 5 or 6 below you is where the influence ends unless its 100% with no cap.

thats why LSD's chain makes mad xp.. you have to pass up 100% of what you got.. no cap.. and they have pushers making it hard on you =)

LSD pushers and UCM's make insane xps'.....but remember...if you have a UCM under you macro'ing 24/7 and you don't do the same...guess what?...you fail!

I hunt about 20-25 hours per week....I would be a slacker and a failure in LSD!


I have a nice group below me....however since my vassal bonus was lost by a move done not long ago...I see a huge difference and less xp.

Maintaining vassal bonus should be extremely important...and that is one reason why I so strongly disagree with promotions and feel the original place you swear in at the time you join is where you should stay. It was my understanding that was how placements would be done but now people want to change the rules...however my vassal was removed thus breaking the bonus from hours played under me. Eventually everyone would have vassal bonus and we would see a much bigger passup by maintaining those bonuses instead of always moving players around and losing that bonus.

I didn't vote...not sure why I would want to move...sometimes I think it would be nice to move ahead those who only play just enough to get their quotas...but....when I think long and hard about those players..I don't really want them under me either since my vassal xp would really drop in that case.

If everyone played the exact same amount of hours...and everyone passed up the max xp they can per hour...we would have an ideal chain....but the concept of everyone playing exact amount of times is unrealistic......that is why we have the longest standing and oldest chain on the server...we have flexability to all who join....our chains offer FREE xp from anyone below you that you wouldn't get if you were not in a chain....it also gives you the freedom to chose 3 different chains to play in based on your play style...and most of all it does NOT force you to play 24/7.


Any xp I get from below me is free xp that I would not have if I was on my own and not in this chain. Is it as uber as what LSD offers?....NO...but it's stable...we know our chain will be around for a long time...we don't bust up every other month like all those other chains......ever wonder why?....the reason we remain a long standing chain is because we are an allegiance 1st and a chain 2nd.

For those who want XP only and nothing else from this game...they usually go UCM where the uberest xp's can be found....we also see those names come back here every now and then when the flavor of the month chain gets busted up for whatever reason. Thus they once again get placed at the bottom of the 126'ers...that's the risk you take by moving elsewhere.

I voted IF I move, it would be for the extra xp....BUT like mentioned above if you have a couple good xp producing vassels under you, you might actually get less xp.

So I really think that it depends on each characters current position, and where they would move to. Not all people would benefit from a move.

I like where I am. I have an excellent chain patron and excellent chain vassels. We often hunt together when real life allows and we have fun. If I moved up due to someone leaving or someother reason then so be it, but I am not concerned about being on top.
