nice thought
Demotions will happen if a promotion is granted! If someone is making quota they need to stay where they are. If someone is making way above quota, that person deserves a reward for doing so. I believe a 2 cycle (42 days) timer with a base % to be moved up 3 ranks is very fair! Level really should not be an issue if that person can make quota and end up doing the promotion criteria again in 42 days. This would be a good insentive for peops to make better than quota!!!!!

We will get a promotion policy put out for everyone to read and comment on. Ac, I remember the post you are talking about now. The promotion policy jumped the gun a little bit; that's why we are looking at it again.
Kazsam is right, as long as people are making quota we have NO right to move them anywhere. If people don't meet quota, either because they don't hunt enough or because quota is raised at some point, that's a different situation.
When I mentioned demotion, I was specifically thinking about anyone who gets promoted, because they just wrecked three people's loyalty bonus to get the move: theirs, their old vassal who got a new patron, and their new vassal who got a new patron. My thoughts are that if someone hunts hard enough to get a promotion, that's great; however, they need to make sure they will continue to make great XP because they will have just made life harder their old vassal and their new one. Especially if we raise quota to reflect the changes in the loyalty bonus as time goes along, it can make things especially hard on A) the people affected by the move and the change to their loyalty bonus and B) to the XP being passed to the overall chain until the 3 people involved get their loyalty bonus back up again.
Of course, with someone who plays a lot like Acaddict does, it won't take long to build it back up again. I'm guessing Ac plays 5? hours every day, on average? At 35 hours of game time each week, it will be built back up again in 7 weeks.
Nothing, nothing, is written in stone yet. We are banging out the best approach to this, and are still looking and listening to feedback from the other chain members. When we get something ironed out (this week I think), we will present it to the chain.

Ok is a little off topic, but alot of peeps seem to reading here atm
Quick question, I have been speaking to several people lately and am wondering why we don not have a Horizontal Chain, thus pushing xp up from the bottom in a huge way . I know Heat has got one mule that fellows with vod fellows form time to time, but in a horizontal chain you would have 12, placed unde the very lowest char in the food chain, that could be online for a huge part of 24 hours. where say 4 mules will join 5 hunting peeps in VOd.
Obviuosly for this to work we'd need alot of peeps who regulary fellow in vod to fellow with these mules, but also fo 12 peeps willing to provide continous mules for everyone to use.
Just a thought, but it seems to work well from what I understand.
I personally would be willing to a provide a) lvl 50+ mule and and b) hunt regularly in vod and fellow with the mules.
Just a suggestion

i dont know exactly if this correct but horizontal chain xp from what i heard is only effective 10-14 spots above the chain where the horizontal chain is placed. i think it would be a good idea to have 2 sets of horizontal chains one at the bottom of the food chain and one at the bottom of hysopp chain if there is a supply and demand.
and then peeps would be incouraged to fellow them. especially the ones that are way ahead on thier passup%
i'll be able to crab these horizontal chainers a few times a week from the marketplace for at least 8hrs a pop.
currently i just put 30mill into those 2 bots at the market each.

The Merciful is right that horizontal chains work better with smaller chains. More specifically, someone hunting in a horizontal chain fellow will only see more experience at that moment if the horizontal chain is less than about a dozen spots below them in the chain.
However, where the pusher fellows really start to shine is when someone like The Merciful does his 8-hour stint in the fellow, logs off, and a bunch of other people in different time zones, with different schedules, log in and pump the fellows for the other 16 hours in the day.
Also, the main reason that horizontal chains require the 24/7 rule for their pushers is that they also require that their vertical chain characters fellow with the pusher fellow. I know that Firtle chain doesn't require 100% passup because the amount of XP they have going through the chain would make that near impossible. So they (the managers) keep their eyes open to see that everyone is "pulling their weight" in the pusher fellows, meaning that they spend a fair amount of time hunting in the fellows. They even ask that the people whose alt chars are in the horizontal chain (and the alt chars aren't allowed to be on the same account as a main, because they want them logged in almost all the time) give salvage and plats and loot to the people hunting in the pusher fellows, so they don't have to "bother with the menial stuff."
I don't think because of the size of the Food Chain and Order of the Hyssop all of that is necessary, but I do agree that large gains could happen from even partial participation. And there's no reason that pusher chars couldn't be sworn in at different points in the chain to make the gains a little more visible to people who hunt in the fellows.
But as mentioned, it takes a generous person to be the only one hunting in a fellow with 3 other leeching mules. It will be a lot easier when word gets around and people make a habit of checking the Marketplace and Walled Portals before they head to AL or VoD.

Hi Ac, sorry this is late. No, I think those are called vassals, or vassals' vassals lol.
A horizontal chain is usually made up of 12 non-hunters who have stupid-high loyalty and are all sworn to the bottom of the vertical chain. An example is Another BM, who I have sworn under Borg. As level 61, his loyalty is base 250 and buffs to 300. He has 142 million XP total and 95 million of that has been spend just on loyalty and self. The other XP was spent getting him to 50. http://www.treestats.com/index.php?Name ... &Type=Char
When he is done being a pusher, I'll either leave the loyalty that high, or untrain some of it if I need the XP somewhere else.
