I assume by "server" you mean the IRC-Server ?
Does your MJ use port 9000 or port 6667 to connect to IRC ?

If you have any problems with MJ I would appreciate to be notified - in our dedicated MJ forum or per PM.
I host our MJ server and did put much work into it - not to mention the hardware I dedicated to it.
After all these efforts I hate to see how few LD people actually use MJ.
So if people do not use it due to technical issues I want to help solving them.
And even if people use it and have technical issues I like to help making it work flawlessly.

As for the IRC functionality - it is by no means a fully featured IRC client. But the basic connectivity and chat commands work fine when configured correctly (at least in my experience).
And if you are not satisfied with the IRC part you can disable it and use another IRC client like dIRCal, while keeping the other MJ features.

MJ is too bulky for me, but it is a nice program, if you like that kinda thing 8)
I read a book saying that women are from venus, all right? So here's what you get her: Thick layers of sulfuric acid, viscous surface rock, and coronae which seem to be collapsed domes over large magma chambers. Here's $5.

You say, "Shurov Thiguz"
* irc.sorcery.net (9000) Connection is aborted due to timeout or other failure
* Connect retry #1 irc.sorcery.net (9000)
* irc.sorcery.net (9000) The attempt to connect timed out

* irc.sorcery.net (9000) The attempt to connect timed out
* Connect retry #3 irc.sorcery.net (9000)
Magus Gondibyr Langarl tells you, "Welcome to my shop. Say, the world could stand some more unpredictable destruction, don't you think?"
Magus Gondibyr Langarl tells you, "Thanks."
Magus Gondibyr Langarl tells you, "Good choice, good choice."
* irc.sorcery.net (9000) The attempt to connect timed out

Magus Gondibyr Langarl tells you, "Thanks."
Magus Gondibyr Langarl tells you, "Good choice, good choice."
* irc.sorcery.net (9000) The attempt to connect timed out
* Connect retry #5 irc.sorcery.net (9000)
Magus Gondibyr Langarl tells you, "Good choice, good choice."
wimp tinker has logged off.
* irc.sorcery.net (9000) The attempt to connect timed out
* Connect retry #6 irc.sorcery.net (9000)

This is a copy of the normal timed out message I always get.

It tries to connect to the correct server on the correct port.

Do you have ElTank installed (even if not activated) ?
I have heard that the ElTank installation might overwrite a Windows DLL with a version that does not work with MJ IRC.
But I think in this case you ought to get a weird error message in the chat window.

Do you use a firewall ? If so, are you sure that port 9000 is not blocked ?

As this is pretty off-topic, I suggest we use PM or the MJ forum :wink:
