Is this quest retired? If not I would love to do it, even twice even.

No it is not. The dungeon was moved from Caul to BSD plains. It can be a nasty run fo lower levels. Once there a high level mage (or gimp like me) can tank the virindi and shadows there using a fire rend casting device.
