pop dwindling?

Holy eff! There's all of about 20 peeps in all 3 Allegiance chains (6mil, 20mil, 100mil) combined!!

Is there some sort of "unofficial" chain somewhere?

The chains have been relatively small since turbine changed how passup works. Some times they have more people in them, some times less, its nothing all that new.

Aye, since Turbine changed the way xp passes up through the allegiance system, chains are really only effective for one "link." Before, patrons could notice vassal xp for probably 12 or 13 levels up from the original hunter before the xp completely flittered away. With the new system, the immediate patron gets a far larger percentage of xp than ever before, but only passes through roughly 10% of what was received, and the grandpatron only passes through 10% of that. So, after a vassal's xp hits one patron its essentially gone, and after it reaches the grandpatron it really IS gone.

Because of all of those changes, many people left the chains immediately after Turbine made the changes and they simply never came back. Chains can still pass up some crazy xp; the mechanics are just different from before.

Back then the 6 million chain was a pretty high output chain. You would have to pass-up 6 million per week above what you recieved from vassals. Well when you got 40% from vassal, 35% from grandvassal, 30% from great grand vassal, 25% from great great grandvassal, and so on.....all that added up plus 6 million on top of it per week was quite a lot of xp to produce yourself (especially when I was someone's vassal and tusami mine LOL).

Hence now, we have xp chains that are closer to the old type of xp that used to be earned...ie 100 million chain and 200 million chain.
