example: Bag of steel (7.00) to armor wk 4 for the 7th tink needs a skill of 367. Now my armor tinkering skill buffed is 500. So I will have a 98.18% chance of success.

Then an other bag of steel (7.00) to the same armor , same skill, but this would be the 8th tink gives me a 89.66% chance of success.

Now some bad examples-

Bag of Gold (7.00) to a wk 8 item (say to make a death item) for the 6th tink needs a skill of 490. My Item tink skill buffs to 500. So I will have a 57.44% chance of success.

then an other bag of (7.00) gold to the same item, same skill, but this would be the 7th tink gives me a 6.66% chance of success.

So you see there is a huge drop off there (6th try =57% and 7th try = 7%)
*Can you say,"Target is destroyed!"
